2014 CSA Season |
What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? Community Supported Agriculture is a community of individuals who pledge support to a local farm in return for safe, healthy, and locally grown food. By pledging to support the farmer at the beginning of the growing season, CSA members share in the risk of production and relieve the farmer of much needed time for marketing their product. This allows the farmer to concentrate on good land stewardship and growing high quality food. |
2014 Vegetable CSA Description We only have one share size Vegetable CSA. We can not recommend splitting a share between two families. If you do, then you are responsible for deciding who gets what and how to divide the vegetables. Payment must be made in full from one source. Become a member of Jones Family Farm CSA and you will receive a 1/2 bushel box of fresh picked vegetables for 10 consecutive weeks. The weekly box/share will generally start out with lighter weights from the leafy greens, spring veggies and get heavier as the season progresses to squash, tomatoes, etc. Our season will begin May 6, 2014 and continue for 10 weeks until July 8, 2014. If we should have inclement growing weather (unexpected frost, to wet to plant, etc.), we do reserve the right to push back the start date. Price is $250.00 per share. Deadline to register is Tuesday, April 1, 2014 Registration is limited. (We reserve the right to close registration at any time.) We grow all of our vegetables chemical free, the way Mother Nature intended. Depending on the sun, rain, and temperatures, you will receive some of the following: radishes, broccoli, spring onions, peas, mustard greens, lettuce, cabbage, salad mix, sweet onions, yellow squash, zucchini squash, eggplants, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, butternut squash, patty squash, potatoes, okra, and melons. Understand, our vegetable are all grown outside and sometimes certain vegetables do better than others each year. WE ARE NOT A COMMERCIAL FARM WITH EMPLOYEES, PLASTIC FOR MULCH, AND IRRIGATION. WE ONLY PLANT NON-GMO SEEDS, MEANING OUR PRODUCE WILL VARY IN SIZE, COLOR, AND TEXTURE. WE DO NOT SPRAY POISONS ON OUR PLANTS, GRADE OUR VEGETABLES, OR WAX THEM. WE ARE MOST DEFINITELY NOT A GROCERY STORE. By joining Jones Family Farm CSA, you are supporting your local family farm, you have knowledge of where your food comes from and how it is grown, and also you not only share in the harvest, but in the crop risk as well.
